Abstract

The article focuses on the studies of Ukrainian folklore and the disclosure of certain aspects of the cultural and artistic life of the Ukrainians of the Presov Region (Eastern Slovakia) of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the XXI century. It is proved that the study of ethnic history, features of culture and life of the Ukrainian population in different fields is one of the main issues of the present. Many problems in the cultural and political life of the Rusyn-Ukrainians are fueled by supporters of Carpatho-Rusy- nins. During recent years, Carpatho-Rusyn folk festivals are developing in the territory of Slovakia, which are gaining popularity among young people. It affects the national-ethnic identity of Ukrainians, complex processes of functioning of their cultural, educational, social and public resources. In the present period, it is important to strengthen the role of the ethnic factor in cultural, socio-political processes, as well as the people's desire to defend their national and cultural traditions and values. The organizers of various festivals of Ukrainian culture are the Union of Rusyn-Ukrainians of the Slovak Republic (SRSR), which despite the difficulties in financing, despite the assimilation processes that tried for a long time all political regimes, try to preserve their culture in our time. On various holidays, people perform Ukrainian, Polish, Slovak, Czech, and Romanian songs, including local dialects singers. The repertoire of singers is enriched with new songs, the authors of which are amateur composers. Vocal performance is not limited to the local environment, but popularized in various folk festivals, but outside of Slovakia. Among the well-known events are folklore festival in the village of Kamionka in Starolyubovnya, and the contest named after Irena Nevytska "Strings of the Heart", the festival of drama and artistic word of Alexander Dukhnovych, the festival of the spiritual song in Sniyn, the review of folk songs "Makovytska Strong", the qualifying rounds of which take place across the entire Presov region, a festival of culture of Rusyn-Ukrainians in Swidnik and others.
