MYSTICAL TIME, MYSTICAL SPACE AND MYSTICAL CHRONOTOPE AS THE DOMINATING IDEA IN THE TALE BY N.V. GOGOL “ST. JOHN’S EVE”

Abstract
This paper presents different kinds of literary time continuum, literary space and chronotope as key elements of the tale by N.V. Gogol – “St. John's Eve”. Besides, we have analyzed the narrator’s role in the construction of spatiotemporal coordinates of the fiction. The article writer also compares interinfluence of “real” and “irreal” characters and time and space. Particular attention is given to the colour scheme and sound accompaniment of space, motives of the road, trial, metamorphosis, dream in their connection with space and time in the tale.
