Abstract

The article reveals the role of international contacts between the Autono-mous territorial unit of Gagauzia (Republic of Moldova) and Greece, as well as the importance of public diplomacy in matters related to religious-cultural de-velopment of the Gagauz and the revival in the people's Orthodox foreign pil-grimage tradition. The author considers the Church as the unifying principle that serves as one of the forms of establishing international contacts in the sphere of religion, education and culture. In this context, emphasizes the role of intercultural dialogue and public diplomacy. In connection with this tradition, special attention is paid to studying the question of there presentation of the Gagauz in the heart of Orthodoxy on mount Athos, as one of the factors contri-buting to the spread of their traditions.
