NATIONAL EXHIBITIONS AS AN INSTRUMENT OF SOFT POWER

Abstract

In this research the author examined the period of “Cold War” (1946-1991) and the instruments of soft power which the USA used to lead ideological propaganda aimed at the USSR during that period. The ideological struggle with the communist regime was the cornerstone of the international policies of the USA before the collapse of the USSR. Western democratic values presented in international policy of the state were opposed to the soviet ones. The article stresses how important culture is in the process of constructing of necessary public opinion and what political and cultural effects it might have
