Nature of wars and its consequences in poems of Zahawi

Abstract
This paper investigates thoughts and viewpoints of Zahawi, Muslim poet of Iraq about war and its consequences. As a poet which extracts theory from poem, Zahawi found a great position in Arab contemporary literature. In this paper, it is tried to study the most important poems of him about war. He was one of the poets who were not afraid of death and confronted his time governors. He didn’t sacrifice national interests for personal ones. Instead he considered people’s rights as a responsibility and always maintained this opinion. He believed that war is the cause of society’s devastation whose result is killing and homelessness of the people and increase in the number of family presiding women. For these reasons, he doesn’t consider war as a pride though it is accompanied with victory.
