A Documentary Contribution to the History of the Radu Vodă Monastery
Journal Title: STUDIUM - Revista studenţilor, masteranzilor şi doctoranzilor în istorie - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 8
Abstract
Ivir Monastery located at Mount Athos preserves a rich “Romanian archive", in which important moments from the common past of these two geographical areas are described. From this documentary collection, 77 documents refer to the period in which the Radu Vodă Monastery, one of the oldest, richest, but also damaged by time monasteries in Bucharest, was dedicated to the settlement from Mount Athos. Access to these documents was facilitated by their editing, under the form of Greek summaries, made by Florin Marinescu, a member of the Institute of Neo-Hellenic Studies. Pending the integral publication of these archival sources, we introduce into the scientific circuit the translation of these summaries, sometimes with additional notes and comments.
