ACTUAL AND PROSPECTIVE SOCIO-ECONOMIC ELEMENTS CONCERNING EUROPEAN TOURISM

Abstract
Tourism represents, both for its content and for its role, a phenomenon that has become widely spread during the contemporary period, its spectacular development being a characteristic feature of the present century, as well as of the end of the previous century. It is one of the major components of the economic and social life, which polarizes the interest of a growing number of countries and people, being a main income source for the national economies of all the countries that have important tourist resources and valorize them accordingly. The carrying out of tourist activities supposes a specific demand of goods and services, demand which triggers among other things the development of the technical and material endowment in this domain and implicitly the stimulation of the production of the branches that take part in: construction and equipment of boarding and meals facilities, road network modernization, realization of transport means, entertainment facilities etc.The tourist circulation of the last few years has been characterized by a strong concentration of this activity on our continent, especially in the countries of the European Union, this fact being supported by their economic power, by their development strategies in this domain, which provide numerous traveling opportunities for the population, and by the fact that they are home to an immense and valuable tourist potential, as well as by their tourist experience. In the following article we will make a detailed presentation of several elements concerning the technical and material endowment ensuring the services corresponding to the development in tourism and to the tourist circulation, with their main indexes, the arrivals/departures of tourists and the revenues/expenses of this economic sector, in Europe.
