Assessment of the stress induced by decays within a system of intensive rearing of the Asian cyprinid
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
In intensive fish farming systems in the recent years, under the multiplication of stressor factors, there is a trend of gradual increase in pathological disease whose etiologic agents are not appreciated at their real pathogenic value by fish farmers. Technological performance in classical aquaculture depends largely on the efficiency of disease control as well as stressful conditions. The subject of this paper was aimed at reducing losses in intensive aquaculture by applying efficient prophylactic and therapeuticmeasures, a good knowledge of parasitological diseases, their length, intensity degree and also the influence on the fish population being necessary. For these reasons, a complete ichtyopathological examination was done in the case of Asian cyprinid species, during 2007-2008 in the Carja 1 (Vaslui County, Romania) farm conditions, identifying the following parasitofauna: protozoa (ciliophora), plathelminthes worms (monogenea and trematoda) and crustaceans.

Effects of environmental factors on growth and mortality of raft cultivated mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis L.) cultivated in lantern nets in Black Sea
One-year old rope grown mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis L.) were held in three experimental lantern nets in raft system outside of Sinop Harbour. Mortality and growth were monitored from May 2005 to May 2006. Water te...
In situ and ex situ preservation of Prussian carp oocyte
The decline of ova viability after ovulation is one of the limiting factors in controlled reproduction of several fish especially in warm water fish. The purpose of this study was evaluating the viability of Prussian ca...
Growth response and survival of Heterobranchus longifilis cultured at different water levels in outdoor concrete tank
Thirteen-day-old hatchery-raised fry obtained from hormonally-induced spawns of mature African catfish H. longifilis broodstock were introduced to three different water levels (0.35, 0.50 and 0.65 m) in four replicates i...
