Breakthrough Innovations in Open Innovation Model and Free Revealing Economics

Abstract
The paper presents new concepts considering creation and commercialization of innovations, focusing on breakthrough innovations (inventions) and imitative innovations (imitations). Author characterized in the report so called model of open (non-linear) innovation and free revealing, assuming abandonment of traditional, institutional industrial property rights protection. Open innovation model developed by H. Chesbrough involves close collaboration with users who thus become co-creators of developed this way products, services or processes. At the same time a company does not give up completely protection of gained industrial property rights, but strives to develop the most effective way to manage them. Free revealing means, in turn, access to knowledge for all concerned, without any direct payment obligation. This paper addresses correlation of open approach to innovation process, and ability to generate different types of processes. To this end, author puts the thesis that system of open inventiveness and abandonment of exclusive rights protection, primarily stimulates emergence of imitative innovations. However, breakthrough innovations are now correlated with a closed system of innovation and traditional patent protection. This paper presents a comparative analysis of presented systems, based on subject literature and research conducted in relation to so-called open source system.
