DEVELOPMENT OF ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR PYRANTEL EMBONATE USING UV-SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

Journal Title: Asian J of Pharm Sci & Tech - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 3

Abstract

ABSTRACT A simple, sensitive, specific, spectrophotometric method has been developed for the detection of pyrantel embonate in pure form and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The optimum condition for the analysis of the drug pyrantel embonate was established. Pyrantel embonate exhibiting absorption both at 235 nm and 288 nm obeyed beers law in the concentration range from 2 to 24.0 μg/ml. The lower limit of detection was found to be 0.66 μg/ml and the limit of quantification was found to be 2.2 μg/ml. The regression equation was found to be y = 0.031x with the regression coefficient of 0.993. The precision of the method was found to be 100.5 ± 1.02. The percentage recovery was found to be 100.68 ± 1.44. The sample solution was stable more than 24 hours. The assay results were found to be in good agreement against the label claim. The proposed method was simple sensitive, precise, accurate and easy for routine quality control analysis. Key words: Spectrophotometry, Pyrantel embonate, Estimation.
