Effects of Gnetumbucholzianum Leaf Extract consumption on plasma antioxidant parameters in wistar rats
Journal Title: Applied Science Reports - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
To investigate the effect of Gnetumbucholzianum leaf extract on plasma antioxidant Vitamins C and E , 20 wistar rats were divided into 2 groups of 10rats per group. Group 1 served as control while Group II was administered with 2.5mg/kg leaf extract of Gnetumbucholzianum for 28days. Vitamins C and E were evaluated., The result obtained showed that plasma antioxidant Vitamins C and E were significantly increased when compared with the control(p<0.05)CONCLUSION:Thissugest that consumption of Gnetumbucholzianum leaf extract posses beneficial effect, and hence reduce reacting oxygen species(ROS) in disease tissue.
