Experimental and Numerical Verification of the Retrofitted RC Columns Using FRP - A State of the Art Review
Journal Title: Caspian Journal of Applied Sciences Research - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 9
Abstract
Externally bonded fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) in the form of wrapping the Reinforce Concrete (RC) columns are being deployed extensively throughout the world for retrofitting reinforced concrete structures. This paper presents the concise review for strengthening columns in civil engineering and modeling the response of retrofitted columns in softwares to predict their performance. Topics included verification of RC retrofitted columns using FRP wraps under test of centric and eccentric axial load in first. Then scrutinizing of the test has been extended for the test of RC retrofitted columns under cumulative and hysteric lateral load along with constant axial load. In next step, efforts to predict the behavior of mentioned columns numerically and analytically has been studied. In this regard, the stress strain behavior of confined column using FRP jackets has been considered while consequently flexural behavior of column could be extracted adopting new stress strain relationship of concrete confined by FRP. The paper is followed with a strong focus on studies, which have contributed to approach the experimental results to their modeling procedure to predict the behavior of strengthened column’s under centric and eccentric axial and also lateral load to interpret the variation of RC columns behavior after wrapping by FRP laminates. This practical performance has been conducted using various numbers of softwares in finite element and Nonfinite element modeling strategies.

Synthesis of new complexes surfactants based on fatty acids and Study the effect of length of fatty acid chain on the petroleum and surface-active properties
In the present work, a series of reactions between ethylenediamine and triethylenetetramine with different types of fatty acids were conducted to form various synthesized complexes. The surface-active properties of...
Simulation of leaching nitrate with HYDRUS-1D in lysimetery studying under wheat cultivated in arid and semi-arid conditions of Dezful, Iran
Nitrogen is considered as an essential element for plants. However, its high solubility results in leaching it into soil deep. Due to saving in time and costs, mathematic models are commonly used in simulating some param...
Age Groups Population Dynamic with an Arbitrary Unit Time
In this paper we present a mathematical model for the age groups population dynamics. The model has this ability to choose an arbitrary unit time. Series solutions of the equations of this model for three age groups unde...
The Investigation of Infiltration Experimental Methods for Accessing to Perfect Model in Surface Irrigation
The aim of this research is to find out the applicable model for surface irrigation. In the surface irrigation method, the soil was contacted and saturated by water, therefore in this research in order to determine...
Seasonal Abundance and Sex Ratio of Dominant Acridid Species in Ballavpur Wild Life Sanctuary of West Bengal, India (Orthoptera: Acrididae)
Acridids have a high reproductive potential and high nutritional value and may be important in energy and nutrient cycling. Seasonal abundance and sex ratio of dominant acridid species were studied on six species v...
