PROFITABILITY AS THE MAIN INDEX OF ENTERPRISE ACTIVITY EVALUATION

Abstract
The subject of the research is theoretical and methodological fundamentals of diagnostics of the enterprise profitability. The purpose of research is an analysis of key indices of Ukrainian enterprises profitability and identifying its ways of improvement. The methodological basis of the research is the fundamentals of economic theory, laws and regulations of Ukraine on evaluation of financial activity of enterprises, theoretical and scientific-practical investigations of domestic and foreign scholars on the issues of theory and practice of management of the enterprise profitability. In the process of investigation were used such methods as: monographic, abstract and logical approach to the study of theoretical and practical aspects of analysis of the enterprise financial state and formation of conceptual content of the category ‘profitability’; comparison, analysis and synthesis – during the study of scientists opinions on the definition of its formulation; financial analysis, grouping and comparison – to determine the financial indices required for the diagnostics of Ukrainian enterprises profitability; statistical comparison – to compare these enterprises by dynamics; structural and system methods – to develop basic directions of forming balanced system of indices of enterprises profitability evaluation; dialectic – during generalizing materials and substantiating theoretical research results. The interpretation of the economic essence of the enterprise profitability is summarized in the article, methodical aspects of forming the system of evaluation indices are considered, profitability indicators of Ukrainian enterprises by the types of economic activity are analyzed and ways of its improvement are presented. The practical significance of the research lies in the substantiation of methodical approaches to analysis of the enterprises profitability, which include a system of key indicators and allow to detect the need to change the priorities in enterprises profitability management.
