Journal Title: The Annals of Valahia University of Târgoviste, Geographical Series - Year 2008, Vol 8, Issue 2
Abstract
The present work-paper has an objective the analysis of the geographic space corresponding to Doftana river superior basin, with special view on soil cover, on factors which influenced the solification process in this region and on the most important features of these soils. During the process of soil cover examination, previous studies regarding this perimeter have also been consider, but all in accordance with the new Romanian System of Soil Classification, since 2003.In the researched area, the dominant soils are part of Cambisols and Spodisols Classes, with the following soil types: districambosols, eutricambosols and prepodzols. Their distribution (extension) has been influenced by rock and altitude. Secondary, on highly inclined and eroded slopes, soils of Protisols Class also occur: litosols, litic regosols, eroded soils (spodic and litic soil subtypes). The capitalization of pedo-geographic potential of the land is conditioned by the actual forest fund situation, as a result of the accentuated urban expansion in this region.
