Survey of yield of winter canola cultivars under drought stress on the yield at four different phonological stages

Journal Title: Scientia Agriculturae - Year 2015, Vol 12, Issue 3

Abstract

To investigate of morphologic features at different phonological stages of four cultivars winter canola to drought, an experiment was be done as split plot in form of randomized complete block design with three replications in 2o11. Experimental factors included irrigation, as main factor; in four levels, including standard or control irrigation (irrigation after 60 mm evaporation from pan class A), cut of irrigation after the stage of the stemming, cut of irrigation after flowering stage and cut of irrigation after forming pods stage and cultivars were as sub factors in four levels. These cultivars were included Hyola 401, RGS 003, SG2, and SG10. Irrigation levels were placed in main plots and cultivars in sub plots. Results showed that drought stress had a significant effect on seed yield, biological yield and phonological stages include of budding, flowering, and forming pods and maturity physiological. The highest seed yield, biological yield and oil content in normal irrigation until the end of growth season, respectively obtained 2244 kg per hectare, 8096 kg per hectare and 44.31 percent. Generally stress during flowering and forming pods (reproductive stage) had the greatest effect in reducing seed production. Stress at stemming had the greatest effect in reducing biological yield. Cultivar had significant effect on seed yield, biological yield, and oil content and also phonological stages include the budding, flowering, forming pods and maturity physiological. The highest seed yield, biological yield and seed oil content in the cultivar Hyola 401, RGS 003 and RGS 003 obtained to the 2962 kg per hectare, 7081 kg per hectare and 43.77%, respectively. The lowest content in all indices also obtained in cultivar SG 2. Interaction of cultivar and drought stress was not significant on any one of the treatments.
