The concept of supplier assessment in a flexible manufacturing plant – a strategic perspective

Abstract
The level of service of a recipient (customer) is an indicator of the efficiency and the quality of the supply chain. Thus, according to the authors of the devel-opment, manufacturing facilities should carry out the evaluation of potential and already existing suppliers, and based on their ability to supply a product in accordance with the requirements of the organization, to make selection of them. It is, therefore, appropriate to define the requirements for the providers, as demonstrated in this study. In view of the above, it is necessary to assume that some of the criteria are more important, and it is on their basis that the as-sessment system should be built and focused on. Therefore, it becomes necessary to distinguish the service level between a declared and real customer service, which requires the determination of measures by which it will be possible to assess a supplier in terms of his/her quality and adaptive behaviour.
