The Derivatives in Risk Management in Corporate Banks

Abstract
Derivatives were introduced into global financial markets in order to miti-gate risk. Currently, usage of the derivatives by Polish banks is dynamically increasing. The appropriate usage enables efficient and effective risk manage-ment and contributes to banks’ financial condition improvement. Banks use derivatives to hedge themselves against the risk, to its mitigation and optimiza-tion. The risk management in bank is an integral part of financial institution strategic management. Banks’ actions with the use of derivatives are an integral part of their internal policy.
