THE HEALTH OF TREES IN ŠIAULIAI CITY. DISEASED TREE LEAVES

Abstract
The research was carried out from July to October in 2012 in the city of Šiauliai. There were identified 9 fungal and 5 non-infectious diseases on 23 kinds of trees and bushes. The most common fungal diseases which have been doing the most damage to the greenery in the city are: leaf spot, brindle, and rust. Five non-infectious leaf diseases were identified: necrosis, discoloration, defoliation, twig desiccation, and needle fall. The most popular non-infectious disease among broadleaves trees and bushes is necrosis, while among conifers trees it is needles fall. The most vulnerable is Tilia cordata. 7 forms of damage were identifi 5 fungal diseases and 2 non-infectious diseases. Pathogens of fungal deseases were identifi in Šiauliai on the various kinds of trees and bushes. These pathogens are classifi in six classes. The most common fungi complexces of coelomycetes class are mostly found on lime trees (Tilia). So widely spread are the pathogens of Apiognomonia errabunda that lime lamina failed to 33%. Quite a big damage was noticed to the Quercus robur which has been done by the Microsphaera alphitoides. It caused not only leaves necrosis but also a strong defoliation in the end of July.
