THE IMPACT OF VIRTUAL TEAMS AND CROWDSOURCING IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NEW MEDIA AND GLOBAL CORPORATIONS

Abstract

 New media's relationship with global companies and media corporations is day by day transformed into an increased concentration and dependence format.New media, in terms of globalization process and global companies, has gained vitality as the basic elements of capitalism. All kinds of promotion, advertising, public relations, explanations and information processes are continuing through new media and social media; besides, collecting data, knowledge and information, and the processes of receiving news, surveillance, monitoring, setting up control systems, routing clients, monitoring customers are continuing through new media and social media. In this process, global companies are hiring new media and social media experts, who are social media teams, to satisfy their needs in each type of information and surveillance processes; through these teams, global companies benefit from “the power of masses”, called as crowdsourcing, for all kinds of mass-sources as versatile. Therefore, the new economy is also called digital economy. But, at the same time global companies have changed the structure and function of the nation-state, destroyed local ones, used the properties of mass culture and popular culture for consumption culture, and in this way they have generalised flexible working system, and thus social insecurity. In this article is also discussed the activity-areas of virtual teams of global companies and crowdsourcing phenomenon.
