THE PLUVIOMETRIC EXCESS IN THE GETIC PIEDMONT FROM THE EAST OF OLT
Journal Title: The Annals of Valahia University of Târgoviste, Geographical Series - Year 2004, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
The study is based on processing and interpreting the annual, seasonal and monthly quantities of precipitations for 50 years (1951-2000) and from 7 meteorological stations (Rm. Vâlcea, Drăgăşani, Strihareţ/Slatina, Deduleşti-Morăreşti, Curtea de Argeş, Piteşti, Voineşti), by using Standardized Precipitation Anomaly (SPA). The highest frequency of excess pluviometric periods are registered in the north-western part of the region, especially in summer. Remarkable for the positive anomalies was October 1972. The very large amounts of precipitation generate great water levels, with floods and big human and material casualties (1970, 1972, 1975 on large areas and 1979 on the Potop river).
