THE WATER SUPPLY OF THE ALEXANDRIA TOWN

Abstract
The presented paper aims to emphasize the role of water utilization as well as the importance of water resources protection in order to satisfy the needs of the town of Alexandria. Although the water supply is accomplished only from the groundwater, the water consumption satisfies the necessary needs of the population, but on account of the usage advanced degree of the transport conducts of water as well as the irrational utilization by the population makes the water supplied to the lodgers be run out in some periods of the year. The water supply, the sewerage, the sanitation, the distribution services of the hot water and the heat supply, as well as the management services of the living spaces are achieved by the Autonomous Municipal Administration-Edilul S.A. Concerning the rehabilitation of the transport networks and water distribution as well as the reduction of the uncontrolled water losses the Autonomous Municipal Administration has prepared a few projects that need high investments.
