Transverse strength of railway tracks: part 3. Multiple scenarios test field
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 30
Abstract
In the present paper the design and construction choices of a test field for the ballast lateral resistance measurement, in order to produce data useful for the development of a numerical model able to simulate the service critical conditions of a continuous welded rail track, are described. Some construction details described herein allow to better understand the methodological approach followed in the design of experiments, the tests management philosophy as well as of the accuracy achieved in their implementation.

Variation of Stress intensity factor and elastic T-stress along the crack-front in finite thickness plates
Non-singular terms in the series expansion of the elastic crack-tip stress fields, commonly referred to as the T-stress. The T-stress is as an additional stress field characterizing parameter to stress intensity factor (...
Meso-mechanics simulation analysis of microwave-assisted mineral liberation
Microwave-assisted crushing and grinding can improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption. This paper takes rock grains with galena and calcite as the research object to establish a two-dimensional comput...
Modelling the mechanical behaviour of metal powder during Die compaction process
In this work, powder compaction process was investigated by using a numerical material model, which involves Mohr-Coulomb theory and an elliptical surface plasticity model. An effective algorithm was developed an...
On fatigue behavior of two spring steels. Part I: Wöhler curves and fractured surfaces
Symmetric fatigue in two spring steels is investigated in three groups of specimens. One of the groups (Steel EN10270-1SH/ DIN 17223C – C 0.82%, Mn 0.76%, Si 0.26%) has experienced rotating-bending fatigue in...
