NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS AND CONCOMITANT ARTERIAL

Abstract
Examination data of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and arterial hyper- tension and revealed condition of detoxifying liver function using a 13 C-methacetin test have been analyzed in the article. Treatment was administered taking into ac- count possible competition of antihypertensive and hypoglycemic agents in the cyto- chrome P-450 system. Th e absence of a reliable correlation between biochemical pa- rameters of the liver and the results of a 13 C-metacetin test, in addition to the pro- thrombin index, has been established. Patients with severe impairment of detoxifying liver function have worse results in achieving the target blood pressure than those with a preserved liver function. It has been established that administration of drugs that do not compete for the cytochrome P-450 isoenzymes is more eff ective than treatment performed without considering such interaction.
