Non-metallic inclusions structure dimension in high quality steel with medium carbon contents
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 3
Abstract
The experimental material consisted of semi-finished products of high-grade, medium-carbon structural steel. The production process involved two melting technologies: steel melting in a 140-ton basic arc furnace with desulfurization and argon refining variants, and in a 100-ton oxygen converter. Billet samples were collected to analyze the content of non-metallic inclusions with the use of an optical microscope and a video inspection microscope. The results were processed and presented in graphic form.

Measurement of large-size casting geometry of the CMM
The aim of this paper is to present the geometric dimensions’ control of large castings and moulds on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Precise measurements of large components are connected with many problems that a...
Plastic properties of cold-deformed ironbased sintered materials
Cold plastic forming of sintered metal powders has limited practical application because of, among others, the deformation degree and initial porosity of preforms. Cold forming is combined with a very drastic drop of pla...
Role of the preliminary heat treatment in anisothermic eutectoid change of the cast iron
Preliminary heat treatment, preceding continuous cooling of the iron casting, assumed in the research, complies with the applied in prac-tice single normalization, double normalization or normalization with slow cooling....
Registration of melting and crystallization process of MCMgLi8Ca5 alloy with use of ATND method
Among lightweight metal alloys, magnesium is the lightest structural material with density of 1.74 g/cm3, having many attractive physical and mechanical properties combined with processing advantages. Therefore, it repre...
Health and safety at work in foundry companies
The article presents the identification and analysis of threats in the environment of the foundry at individual stages of the casts manufacturing process. A generalized model of the foundry was created in the system pres...
