Nuclear Medicine Procedures in Diagnosis of Infective Endocarditis
Journal Title: Nuclear Medicine Seminars - Year 2020, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Infective endocarditis (IE) is described as infection of endocardial surfaces of heart and if available prosthesis materials. Despite all up to date developments in diagnosis and treatment of its, IE is mortal and morbid disease. IE causes numerous non-specific symptoms and findings in patients. Currently, various difficulties are observed in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of IE. Duke criteria is used for supporting of diagnosis. Also, echocardiography, computerized tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET)/CT, magnetic resonance, labeled leukocyte scintigraphy, blood culture, polymerase chain reaction investigations are used. Although, histopathological diagnosis is gold standard. In this procedure guideline nuclear medicine methods (PET/CT and labeled leukocyte scintigraphy) will be handled that used more frequently in recent years for diagnosis of IE.

Procedur Guideline for Lymphoscintigraphy and Sentinel Lymph Node in Breast Cancer
Sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection by lymphoscintigraphy (LS) and using intraoperative gamma probe is the mostly important prognostic factor in patients with breast cancer. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is a procedu...
Guideline for PET/CT Imaging of Neuroendocrine Neoplasms with 68Ga-DOTA-conjugated Somatostatin Receptor Targeting Peptides
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are one of the rare cancers that have been increasing in recent years. The importance of Ga-68 DOTA-Conjugated Peptides Receptor imaging has been reported in many retrospective and prospectiv...
Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma in Pediatric Age Group/Differences in Diagnosis, Therapy and Follow-up
Differentiated thyroid cancer in childhood is rare. Although its clinical course is quite aggressive with higher rates of lymph node and pulmonary metastases as compared to adults, the final outcome tends to be favorable...
Renal Toxicity After Radionuclide Therapy
With the introduction of radionuclide therapies, the probability of toxicity has increased in critical organs such as kidney and bone marrow. Although these toxicity rates are relatively low in targeted therapies such as...
Non-ultrasonographic and Non-radioiodine Imaging Techniques in Thyroid Cancer
Ultrasonography is the most commonly used and most effective imaging modality in thyroid cancer imaging. It is the most successful method for evaluating primary tumor and local disease. I-131 scintigraphy is also a usefu...
