NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF THE FLEXURAL RESPONSE OF RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH NSM-CFRP
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2018, Vol 3, Issue 28
Abstract
In this study, we have chosen to use a new technique of reinforcement with composite materials, namely the near surface mounted technique (NSM). The NSM technique consists in inserting strips of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate into slits made beforehand at the level of the concrete coating of the elements to be reinforced. A numerical investigation was conducted on rectangular reinforced concrete beams reinforced with NSM-CFRP using the ATENA finite element code. A parametric study was also carried out in this research. The numerical results were compared with the experimental results of the beams tested by other researchers with the same reinforcement configurations. Overall, numerical behavior laws are rather well-suited to those obtained experimentally and the parametric study has also yielded interesting results.

An elastic isotropic multi-wedge system with radially located thin defects under longitudinal shear is considered. The procedure of construction of asymptotics of the stress and displacement fields in the vicinity of the...
THE EVALUATION OF THE FERTILIZING AND YIELD POTENTIAL OF STRAW AND CELLULOSE MANURE
The objective of the study was to determine the physicochemical properties as well as the fertilizing and crop-yielding value of straw and cellulose manure after a 6-month storage period. Before field application pH valu...
NUMERICAL MODELLING OF SOIL ARCHING IN A SHALLOW BACKFILL LAYER
The paper presents the application of the finite element method into the modelling of soil arching. The phenomenon plays fundamental role in soil-shell flexible structures behaviour. To evaluate the influence of arching...
EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON STEEL TANK MODEL USING SHAKING TABLE
Cylindrical steel tanks are very popular structures used for storage of products of chemical and petroleum industries. Earthquakes are the most dangerous and also the most unpredictable dynamic loads acting on such struc...
