NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION BY SPH METHOD
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2016, Vol 61, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper presents theoretical and practical fundamentals regarding numerical analysis of an underwater explosion. Its parameters and effects upon submerged structures represent the aim of the numerical analysis by Smoothed Particles Hydrodynamics (SPH). SPH method is a version of a more general numerical method, named free particle method. The fundamentals of explosion theory and of the SPH method are supposed to be known, so this paper intends to present only the particularities of an underwater explosion and how its parameters and effects can be modeled by SPH method. The example finishing the paper represents an available numerical model for such problems.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF HOLES PATTERNS ON COUPLED INSTABILITY OF PERFORATED THIN-WALLED MEMBERS
The buckling behaviour of vertical steel pallet rack columns is greatly influenced by the distribution of perforations punched continuously along their length. To study the influence of the holes patterns on the elastic...
GAS TURBINE AS RANGE EXTENDER FOR FUTURE ELECTRIC AUTOMOBILES
The propulsion of automobiles by motors, especially by hub motors, integrated into the wheels, offers remarkable advantages in terms of vehicle dynamics, stability and freedom of movement. But the most important benefit...
MECHANICAL WORK REDUCTION DURING MANIPULATION TASKS OF A PLANAR 3-DOF MANIPULATOR
The problem addressed in this paper concerns a planar 3-DOF manipulator operating in horizontal plane, that must move from an initial position characterized by angles θ1(0), θ2(0) and θ3(0) to a required final position c...
KINEMATIC DESIGN OF 3-RPSR PARALLEL MECHANISM FOR MOVABLE-DIE DRIVE MECHANISM OF PIPE BENDER
The authors have been developing a pipe bender which fabricates pipes of three-dimensional complex shapes from straight pipes based on the penetration bending method. This bender is composed of a movable die supported by...
EFFECT OF LOW AND EXTREME-LOW TEMPERATURE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF 3D-PRINTED POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE GLYCOL
This paper investigates the mechanical behavior of 3D-printed Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) before and after exposure to low and extreme-low temperature. Before printing, melt shear viscosity of the PETG was i...
