Nutritional - Metabolic Profile - Prevalence of Eating Disorders in Obese Patients Referred For Bariatric Surgery

Abstract

Increasing prevalence of obesity are systematically reported by the academia and given headlines in the media. In 2010, the Brazilian Ministry of Health (MS), in association with the Brazilian Institute of Statistics and Geography (IBGE), released data that showed an increase in the prevalence of obesity and overweight in all age groups in Brazil. In this report, 50% of men and 48% of women were overweight, and 12.5% of men and 16.9% of women were obese.
