O lokalności raz jeszcze: problematyka relacji mezostrukturalnych w społeczeństwie zglobalizowanym

Abstract
The issue of locality in a contemporary globalized society has been discussed by the authors. The whole argument has been divided into three significant parts. In the first one the changing character of “locality” in the context of historical perspective on human society has been presented. The authors consider the changing nature of “locality” in the context of processes of modernization and globalization as well as in the connection to the identity and the place ideas that became important areas of study in contemporary sociology. In the second part, a more traditional perspective of multi level organization of social life has been pointed out in the context of globalization and post-modernity. The authors claim that the level of personal relations (micro-structures), locality (meso-structures) and “distant” relations (macro-structures) have been transformed in a significant way in a contemporary globalized society. However, in the third, conclusive part of the chapter the authors stress that localities (meso-structures) again play important roles in the area of shaping human agency.
