Ocena wpływu azotowania powierzchni stali zaworowych na ich żaroodporność

Abstract

In this paper evaluation of effect of nitrided surface of valve steels, X33CrNiMn23-8, X50CrMnNiNbN21-9, X53CrMnNiN20-8 and X55CrMnNiN20-8 on their heat resistance was presented. This evaluation was performed by comparison of courses of kinetics of high-temperature oxidation of nitrided valve steel with samples without such modification. The nitrided layer with depth < 0,5 μm was generated in glow discharge conditions. Experiment of oxidation of investigated steels was carried out by continuous microgravimetric method in isothermal condition at 1173 K. On the basis of obtained results, it was stated the highest improvement of heat resistance properties shows X50CrMnNiNbN21-9 steel. The lower improvement of heat resistance shows X33CrNiMn23-8 steel, whereas for other investigated X53CrMnNiN20-8 and X55CrMnNiN20-8 steels a positive effect of nitriding on their heat resistance was not observed.
