ON A CONTROLLED COMPOSITE SEMI-INFINITE STRIP
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2010, Vol 55, Issue 1
Abstract
The configuration for a semi-infinite strip with self tuning based control is presented in this paper. The semi-infinite strip is composed from a layer of main material, and another layer of piezoelectric material with Cantor-like structure. We show that the displacements distribution can be controlled actively by applying a voltage to the piezoelectric material.

VIBRATIONS OF A MICROPADDLE WITH PERIODIC AUXETIC CORE
This paper discusses the vibrations of a micropaddle made from a foil with periodic auxetic core. Two major levels of complexity are discussed in order to understand the structure of this composite, and the auxetic role...
HELICAL SPRING WITH VARIABLE WIRE DIAMETER
The geometrical and functional particularities of helical springs with variable wire diameter are studied in this paper. The spring’s characteristic is determined by two factors. On one hand, by the minimum distance betw...
RISK ASSESSMENT OF SYSTEMS DURING DEVELOPMENT PHASE: AN APPROACH BASED ON LIFETIME FUNCTIONS
Quantifying the time-dependent risk associated with complex engineering projects is an essential task to ensure the success of these projects. Low technology readiness and maturity levels and uncertainties associated wit...
EVOLUTION AS PHYSICS
Thermodynamics today is the physics domain in which three previously selfstanding lines of thinking merged to cover the broadest range of natural phenomena to date. The three lines were work-heat-design, or mechanics-cal...
ELASTO-PLASTIC FINITE DEFORMATION MODELS FOR ANISOTROPIC DAMAGE
The paper deals with finite deformation elasto-plastic models with anisotropic damage. The models are mathematically coherent and consistent with free energy imbalance principle. One model is based on the existence of de...
