On Estimation of Residual Stresses in Rails Using Shake-Down Based Method
Journal Title: Archives of Transport - Year 2010, Vol 22, Issue 3
Abstract
This paper presents a method, which may be used to determine residual stress distribution in bodies subject to cyclic loads. A mixed global/local version of the Meshless Finite Difference Method (MFDM) is used to devise a discrete computational formulation of a shakedown based residual stress calculation mechanical model for elastic-plastic bodies subject to cyclic loadings. Several 1D and 2D verification/validation tests are presented, including thorough discussion of results and conclusions regarding the details of computational model. The method developed is applied to determine residual stress distribution in a railroad rail subject to simulated contact load.

DIRECT OBSERVATION OF REROUTING PHENOMENA IN TRAFFIC NETWORKS
In this paper we propose how available dataset can be used to estimate rerouting phenomena in traffic networks. We show how to look at set of paths observed during unexpected events to understand the rerouting phenomena....
Neural Model of the Aircraft Landing Phase
The article deals with mathematical modeling of the aircraft landing phase using artificial neural networks. The network was determined based on the data recorded by an aircraft’s quick access recorder. Networks were dev...
Object-oriented programming as a method for developing software in rail-traffic-control computer systems
The paper focuses on a new method for specifying safe software for rail traffic control systems. The presented method is particularly convenient to define typical devices and subsystems used in traffic control, defined a...
