ON THE EXPLOSIVE CHARACTERISTICS AND RATIONAL USE OF DETONITE M WHILE HEADING THE MINE OPENINGS

Abstract

Detonite M is the most powerful of nitro- ether- containing industrial explosives used to destroy rather hard rocks in the mining industry. STS JSC «FNPTs» «Altai» as the only producer of nitro- ether- containing explosives in Russia in 2003 started to produce detonite M in 32 mm diameter cartridges. The recipe was modernized improving its technological production parameters and the increasing power and detonation characteristics. However, at present, the selling prices for detonite M are significantly higher than those for ammonite 6ZGV, and despite its high efficiency and energy characteristics, sales are limited. The paper presents some studies results on the rational use of detonite M while heading the openings in the Kaz branch mines of AO “Evrazruda”. The use of detonite at the faces along with ammonite 6ZGV significantly increases the blastholes utilization rate and production volume with improved crushing quality.
