The scientific novelty consists in examining chamber-ensemble works of French compos- ers of the second half of the XIX century in the aspect of inheriting the traditions of salon style. Being a classic of the flute performer's repertoire, these works have not yet become the object of a special study. Conclusions. In the evolution of French chamber-ensemble music, the salon culture occupies a significant place, because it formed the functional, struc- tural, aesthetic and genre-style foundations of this sphere of composer creativity.
