ON THE MIXED MODELS OF INTERACTION BETWEEN CIVIL SOCIETY AND STATE POWER

Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Політологія" - Year 2018, Vol 314, Issue 302

Abstract

The authors consider the expediency of singling out mixed models of interaction between civil society and state power. The au-thors determine the main reasons for the insufficient attention of researchers to mixed models. The authors identify and characterize possible variants of «pure» and mixed models on the basis of the author’s approach to the modeling of interaction «civil society – state power». The authors distinguish the following «pure» models of interaction between civil society and state power: 1) statism; 2) confrontational (two types – with the dominance of civil society and with the dominance of state power); 3) consensus (two types – moderate statism and moderate de-statism) 4) self-organization. The authors compare the proposed models with the most common approaches by A. Sungurov, G. Kosov and A. Pasler. The authors determine the basic conditions for the viability of mixed models. As a result, the authors distinguish the following mixed models: 1) «statism and confrontational»; 2) «confrontational and consensus» of two types – statism and de-statism; 3) «confrontational and self- organization»; 4) mixed model of consensus type. The authors note that the proposed approach, enriched by mixed models, expands the possibilities of its application for studying the interaction between civil society and state power in a historical retrospective and for analyzing political thought. The authors con-clude that the proposed approach to understanding mixed models opens up great opportunities for analyzing transitional states of interaction between civil society institutions and public authorities in transformational societies.
