ON THE PROBLEM OF NEOLOGISMS FORMATION IN THE UKRAINIAN-SPEAKING SEGMENT OF SOCIAL NETWORKS OF FACEBOOK

Abstract

The article analyzes the main trends in the creation of neologisms in the Ukrainian segment of the social network Facebook. The study allows us to conclude that the main sources of neologisms of the social network Facebook include external (mostly from English and Russian languages) and internal (expansion of the use of colloquial vocabulary and vocabulary belonging to the jargon of programmers) borrowings and word-formation neologisms, derived on the basis of borrowings from the English language. After analyzing neologisms arising in the social network Facebook, we defined in the article the most productive ways to create neologic vocabulary – suffixation (formation of verbs derived from nouns), abbreviation and apocope. As the main feature of the language of social networks, non-conventional methods of word formation (in particular graphic hybridization) emerged and became widespread. New words are created and function most of all in a colloquial style, some of them disappear after a single use, and some spread and become popular among Internet users, and then go beyond the Internet.
