On the question of expression of retardation in literary text

Abstract
The article analyzes retardation as compositional, syntactic and lexical-stylistic means. In literary text retardation slows the progression of the plot by introducing additional, sometimes secondary information, clarifying the characteristics of the characters, descriptions of events or locations that do not violate the integrity of the overall content of the work. The aim of retardation is to create an effect of suspense, outcome expectations and the rise of expressive and emotional potential of the work through syntactic and lexical-stylistic means of expression.
