ON THE RESONANCE WAVE INTERACTION PHENOMENON
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2010, Vol 55, Issue 1
Abstract
Resonant wave interaction is a nonlinear process in which energy is transferred between different natural modes of a system by resonance. For a nonlinear system, the motion is not a summation of the linear modes, but consists of the linear harmonics plus their nonlinear coupling. This paper is studying the dynamic interaction between an attachment of cubic stiffness nonlinearity and the beam. The resonant interactions of the attachment with incident traveling wave propagating in the beam are studied by using the cnoidal method.

CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING YIELD CRITERIA INSENSITIVE TO HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE
For distinguishing between pressure insensitive and pressure sensitive criteria, the form of yield surface with invariants is preferred. It is known that when this function can be formulated only in terms of the stress d...
ADVANCED STRATEGIES FOR INVESTIGATION OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Due to several pressing matters like the drastic reduction in pollutant emissions and fuel consumption, as well as the need to increase the thermal efficiency, the research in the field of internal combustion engines run...
A NUMERICAL ASYMPTOTIC FORMULATION FOR THE POST-BUCKLING ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURES IN CASE OF COUPLED INSTABILITY
The analysis of slender structures, characterized by complex buckling and postbuckling phenomena and by a strong imperfection sensitivity, is heavily penalized by the lack of adequate computational tools. Standard increm...
VIBRATIONS ANALYSIS OF A MECHANICAL SYSTEM CONSISTING OF TWO IDENTICAL PARTS
In many technical applications (like those in automotive engineering or in structural mechanics) the mechanical system studied can be considered composed by two or many identical subsystems or parts. These kind of symmet...
NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION BY SPH METHOD
This paper presents theoretical and practical fundamentals regarding numerical analysis of an underwater explosion. Its parameters and effects upon submerged structures represent the aim of the numerical analysis by Smoo...
