ONLINE SOCIETY AND VISUAL SOCIALITIES: A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSISON SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEW SERFDOMS OF FREE DIGITAL WORLD

Abstract
Due to the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in modern societies, rapid changes has become one of the main research areas of sociology like many other disciplines. Since most of the observations and analysis focus in the field of communication, and inadequate disclosures occur, sociologists intensified their interest in the digital domain. While utilizing the digital means, sociologists, are re-questioning and identifying the changes and transformation brought in social life, the concepts of reality, virtuality, social and public. Digital sociology has emerged in such an atmosphere and the motto 'the effect of digital means and corporate climate should be considered during sociological knowledge production’ began to spread. This article will focus on the new social structures and new social ties that are generated through internet and social media. The ‘social’ feature of social media will be discussed and the destructive aspects of social media on tradition and emerging realities will be criticized.
