Abstract
The theme of the article is tructural and semantic peculiarities of onomastic phraseological units in Ukrainian and Polish languages. The main aim of the article is the description of semantic and structural peculiarities of Ukrainian phraseological units with such component as «proper name», the identification of the main meaning of connotations of proper names in phraseology against the background of similar items in Polish. To solve the main aim we have determined quantitative and qualitative composition of proper names in Ukrainian and Polish phraseology; and defined genetic types and sources of the phraseological units with proper names; covered the main factors of phraseological transformation of proper names; and identified the types of connotations of proper names included into phraseological units. The object of the study is Ukrainian and Polish phraseological units with the component «proper name», which were extracted from different lexicographical and paroemiological sources. The component «proper name» implicates words-components of phraseological unit, the basis of which are personal names, surnames and nicknames, toponims and also words-components derived from proper names – relative and possessive forms of adjectives, words formed according to the model of a proper name (fictional names). Research methods. The main method used here is the descriptive as well as its techniques (categorical analysis, the method of classification and taxonomy) that allow to analyze the phraseological units with the component «proper name» in modern Ukrainian language. The method of component analysis is used for description of the semantic layers acquired by proper names which serve as a part of phraseological units. The scientific relevance of the results consists in the research of insufficiently studied theoretical material. In particular, the structure and semantic features of onomastic phraseological units in Ukrainian language are studied against the background of Polish; some patterns of proper names with connotative meanings of various types in both languages were established. The article specifies that onomastic phraseological units both in Ukrainian, and Polish languages are able to actualize national and cultural semantics, and the types of connotations of proper names reflect patterns of linguistic thinking of Ukrainians and Polish.
