OPERATION OF A MUNICIPAL COMBINED HEAT AND POWER (CHP) IN THE BLACKOUT CONDITIONS EXEMPLIFIED BY A SELECTED HIGH-POWER OBJECT

Abstract
The hazard of blackout occurrence in the Polish national power system keeps growing. In the blackout conditions one of the protection methods is to separate a balanced load island as a power source for a municipal CHP. The paper discusses the significance of a municipal CHP as a guarantee of local and global power safety. It also includes an analysis of hazardous conditions for the CHP technical equipment when voltage collapse occurs in the system as well as a discussion of technical aspects concerning adjustment of the equipment and auxiliaries to islanding conditions or auxiliary services.
