Optimization of Gas Well Performance through Well Capacity Prediction using Systems Analysis Approach

Abstract

Analyses of the variables that affect the performance of flowing gas wells were carried out in this project to optimize production of wells U300, U400 and U500 whose production from onset was less than 60% of the expected rate of 50MMscf/ d. The variables analyzed are tubing diameter, perforation interval, wellhead pressure, reservoir pressure and temperature, applying System analysis, which offers a means of recognizing quickly the components of the production system that are restricting its performance using Prosper 11.5 simulation software. Result from these analyses show a well potential of 1185MMscf/ d, 577MMscf/ d and 595.119MMscf/ d for wells U300, U400 and U500 respectively and an optimum gas flow rate of 50.303MMscf/ d, 69.056MMscf/ d and 50.890MMscf/ d for the three wells respectively.
