Optimization of large farms tenures

Journal Title: Žemės ūkio mokslai - Year 2016, Vol 23, Issue 4

Abstract

The article deals with the rationality of land tenure allocation for farms created during the land reform. The main purpose of the research is to analyze allocation of large farms land tenures and determine possibilities of their optimization. It was determined that the average area of a  separately cultivated plot is 14.9  ha, the  average distance from a farmstead to plots is 4.35 km, the fragmentation coefficient of land tenure K2 varies from 2.64 to 8.81 (in average 3.62) in the farms chosen for research in Jonava District. It is proposed to prepare land management schemes where perspective boundaries of land tenures should be planned and to legitimize the priority of a farm owner to purchase offered for sale land plots within these boundaries in order to increase compactness of land tenures. Examples of the rearrangement of tenure boundaries and calculations which ground possible economy of farms production costs due to the reduction of the average distance to the plots are presented in the article. Methodical recommendations for planning of perspective boundaries of farm tenures in land management schemes were prepared.
