OPTIMIZATION OF UNIT LOAD FORMATION TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE MASS OF PACKAGING UNITS
Journal Title: Archives of Transport - Year 2014, Vol 32, Issue 4
Abstract
This article presents a mathematical formulation of the optimization problem of loading unit formation taking into account the mass of packaging units. Proposed model can be applied to optimize the arrangement of non-uniform cubical loading units in loading spaces. The model ensures possibility of defining various dimensions, masses, resistances of particular packaging units and their vertical axis rotation. Within the constraints of formulating optimization problem, taking into account masses and resistances ensures that all packaging units will rest on a pallet or on other packaging units, and the surface of contact between loading units guarantees stability of units arranged in subsequent layers. The mathematical model was verified. The paper provides an appropriate calculation example.

DIRECT OBSERVATION OF REROUTING PHENOMENA IN TRAFFIC NETWORKS
In this paper we propose how available dataset can be used to estimate rerouting phenomena in traffic networks. We show how to look at set of paths observed during unexpected events to understand the rerouting phenomena....
Speed management as a measure to improve road safety on Polish regional roads
The article presents the issue of the implementation of speed management measures on regional roads, whose character requires the use of different solutions than those on national roads. The authors briefly described spe...
Elements of perfect order rate research in logistics chains
Perfect order rate (POR) is one of the superior measures of the logistics processes quality. POR is at the top of the hierarchy of key performance indicators (KPI) in supply chain and is considered as difficult to define...
Development of a statistically-based methodology for analyzing automatic safety treatments at isolated high-speed signalized intersections
Crashes at isolated rural intersections, particularly those involving vehicles traveling perpendicularly to each other, are especially dangerous due to the high speeds involved. Consequently, transportation agencies are...
Powertrain system with the ultracapacitor-based auxiliary energy storage for an urban battery electric vehicle
This paper presents a powertrain system for an urban electric vehicle. The powertrain system consists of a hybrid energy source (battery storage and ultracapacitors) and drivetrain system (two in-wheel outer-rotor PMSM m...
