Optimized Protocol for PFGE Analysis of Anginosus (milleri) Streptococci
Journal Title: Polish Journal of Microbiology - Year 2015, Vol 64, Issue 1
Abstract
Streptococcus anginosus (milleri ) is a diverse group of gram positive bacteria. Molecular methods to establish relationship between strains are poorly developed. Therefore, main tool to study genetic variability is restriction fragment length polymorphism combined with pulsed field gel electrophoresis (RFLP-PFGE). In this communication, we present optimized protocol for S. anginosus PFGE analysis.

Virus Like Particles as Immunogens and Universal Nanocarriers
Over the last two decades virus-like particles (VLPs) have become an important tool in biomedical research and medicine. VLPs are multiprotein structures that resemble viable virus particles in conformation but lack the...
Prevalence, Influencing Factors, Antibiotic Resistance, Toxin and Molecular Characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA Nasal Carriage among Diabetic Population in the United States, 2001–2004
Diabetic population were reported more likely to suffer carriage and infection with Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) than non-diabetic population. We aim to elucida...
In Vitro Studies of Antibacterial and Antifungal Wound Dressings Comprising Nanoparticles
The incidence rate of the infected and complex wound is established approximately 40 000/1 million of the world’s adult population. The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of three novel types of wound dr...
Genes Controlling 2-deoxyglucose Induced Lysis and Formation of Reactive Oxygen Species in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Schizosaccharomyces pombe cells of strains each carrying a deletion of one of the genes snf5, ypa1, pho7 and pas1 and of a strain overexpressing gene odr1, have been previously shown to grow in presence of the toxic gluc...
Evaluation of Two Lactic Acid Bacteria Starter Cultures for the Fermentation of Natural Black Table Olives (Olea europaea L cv Kalamon)
The production of Greek-style natural black table olives remains an empirical process relying on spontaneous fermentation despite its economic significance. For this reason producers often resort to increased NaCl concen...
