Optimized Protocol for PFGE Analysis of Anginosus (milleri) Streptococci
Journal Title: Polish Journal of Microbiology - Year 2015, Vol 64, Issue 1
Abstract
Streptococcus anginosus (milleri ) is a diverse group of gram positive bacteria. Molecular methods to establish relationship between strains are poorly developed. Therefore, main tool to study genetic variability is restriction fragment length polymorphism combined with pulsed field gel electrophoresis (RFLP-PFGE). In this communication, we present optimized protocol for S. anginosus PFGE analysis.

Five Years’ Evaluation of BD ProbeTec system for the direct molecular detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in respiratory and nonrespiratory clinical samples
In this study, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex was detected by BD ProbeTec ET system in 4716 respiratory and 167 nonrespiratory samples [mostly (98%) smear negative]. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and...
Relationship between measles outbreaks based on genetic analysis of measles virus genomes detected in patients in Poland between 2006 and 2012.T
This study describes the molecular characterization of 56 MeV strains obtained from clinical samples collected from 56 patients in Poland from 2006 to 2012. MeV RNA samples were analysed according to variability of C-ter...
Enteroviruses Associated with Aseptic Meningitis in Poland, 2011–2014
A 4-year study (2011–2014) of patients with meningitis was performed. Out of the 686 cerebrospinal fluid samples, 465 (67.8%) were positive for eneteroviruses using RT-PCR and out of 334 clinical samples, 216 (64.7%) wer...
Seroprevalence of Rubella and Cytomegalia in Young Women from Biała Podlaska District
The aim of this study was to analyze the seroprevalence of rubella and cytomegalia among young women. The study included 175 healthy women from the Biała Podlaska District, aged 16 to 35 years. Anti-rubella and anti-CMV...
Genetic Characterization of Human Enteroviruses Associated with Hand, Foot and Mouth Diseases in Poland, 2013–2016
The objective of the present study was to describe the molecular characteristics of enteroviruses associated with hand, food, and mouth disease (HFMD) in Poland. Clinical material from HFMD cases, that occurred during 20...
