Organization of specialized ophtalmological aid and screening of glaucoma in remote districts of Samara Region

Abstract
The incidence of glaucoma in Samara region in 2010-2014 increased from 90.6 to 123.7 per 10 000 with growth dynamics of 36.5%. In 2015 it decreased to 110.8 per 10 000. The detection rate increased from 0.90% to 0.94% in 2010-2014 (data from preventive ophthalmic investigation of healthy people).In 2013-2015 tonometric glaucoma screening of 6674 patients was held in the Mobile ophthalmic care Department of Samara Regional ophthalmological hospital. Elevated intraocular pressure was detected in 5,3% cases, glaucoma – in 2,5%. 679 laser procedures (SLT and YAG-laser iridectomy) were performed in this period. Mobile group of optometrists conducted tonometric glaucoma screening of 10684 patients in 2013-2015. Elevated intraocular pressure was detected in 5,9% cases. Thus mobile structures of eye care show high efficacy in diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma in remote areas of the Samara region.
