Organizational and pedagogical foundations of Ostroh academy activity of the XVI – XVII centuries

Abstract
The organizational and educational activities of Ostroh Academy in the XVI – XVII centuries as an important cultural and educational center of Ukraine are analyzed. The religious, cultural and social background of formation and development of Ostroh Academy is revealed. The main stages of Ostroh Academy, its funding, scienti¿ c and educational process that took place in the school are determined. Publishing activities of the Academy, the preparation and printing of educational materials and other materials in the academic publishing house are analyzed. Forms, methods and means used in the educational process of the Academy are generalized. The inÀ uence of the functioning of the institution for scientic and educational thought of Ukraine is mentioned. Ostroh Academy teaching staff, its educational ideals and contribution of teachers in the educational process of the institution are characterized. The achievements of Ostroh Academy graduates, their level of education, scholarship and importance of their work for educational, cultural and historical heritage of Ukraine are characterized. The reasons and factors that inÀ uenced the ceasing of Ostroh Academy activity are shown.
