Origin and Development of Yan-Zhao Medical School

Abstract

This paper analyzes the formation and development background of the Yan-Zhao Medical School from the perspectives of the rich historical heritage, unique regional culture, and local pharmaceutical industry of the Yan-Zhao region. It summarizes three historical peaks of the Yan-Zhao Medical School and combs its academic development characteristics. Physicians of the Yan-Zhao Medical School have been innovative while adhering to orthodoxy in theoretical development, explored the integration of Chinese and Western medical techniques in clinical practices, and had a profound impact in educational inheritance. Throughout the development process of the Yan-Zhao Medical School, the integration of academic thoughts and adherence to innovation have been a key reason for its long-term success. In the new historical period, the Yan-Zhao Medical School has ushered in new opportunities for development, and it is anticipated that greater achievements will be made in the inheritance and innovation.
