Oxidative Stress Index Predicts Disease Onset

Journal Title: Journal of Medical Research and Practice - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 3

Abstract

It is well established that oxidative stress (OS) is the direct cause of non-communicable environmental diseases (ENVDs) and an indirect cause of infectious diseases (INFDs) in people. It was recently reported that oxidative stress level can be used to predict the onset of disease in clinically asymptomatic individuals. It is proposed here that oxidative stress level can be predicted from the number of affirmative answers given by an individual to questions regarding OS causing parameters, that the number of affirmative answers add up to what is termed the Oxidative Stress Index (OSI) and that the OSI value can be used to determine the likelihood of disease onset.
