OxytocinMassage on Postpartum Primipara Mother to the Breastmilk Production AndOxytocin Hormone Level

Abstract
Less breastmilk production will interfere the breastfeeding process which is one of the factors causing mothers not to breastfeed exclusively. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective- ness of oxytocin massage on breast milk production and postpartummother’s oxytocin hormone level. The design of this study was quasi experimental design. The population in this study was postpartum primipara mother of 4–11 days lactationin the area of Puskesmas Bendo. 16 respondents in this study were divided into two groups namely treatment groups and control groups. The sampling technique was Probability Sampling type Simple Random Sampling. The independent variablewas (oxytocin mas- sage) and dependent variablewas (breastmilk production and oxytocin hormone levels). The data collected by using interview and observation sheet then analyzed by using Mann-Whitney test test got U value equal to 8.000 with p-value = 0.003 p-value compared = 0.05 then p-value < , in conclusion, H0 was rejected or There was an effect in the production of breast milk and the levels of the hormone oxytocin between the control group and the treatment group. The oxytocin massage was recommended to nurses to be applied in addition to breast care to increase the production of postpartum mothers who have less breastmilk production.
